Our affordable rented housing is owned, let, and managed by Perran Housing, a company which falls under Treveth’s corporate umbrella. This ensures Treveth remains responsible for managing affordable rented housing and tenants benefit from a single point of contact. Affordable rented housing is only offered to people who live and work in Cornwall.

What can you expect from us?

A lifetime tenancy agreement

Perran Housing offers a lifetime tenancy agreement, providing residents with long-term security and stability, allowing them to put down roots in their community.

Fair rental fees

The rent for our affordable rental housing is set at 80% of the local open market rates or lower Local Housing Allowance rates where a S106 or other agreement requires this. We review rent figures annually and increases will not exceed the Regulator of Social Housing published rent caps.

You can enjoy a high-quality property from Perran Housing which is often larger than average in size. We maintain your property to a high standard throughout the duration of your tenancy and ensure the wider estate is well maintained. We retain the stewardship and management of estates which allows us to ensure a continued high standard across all areas.

Helping you with energy costs

Our affordable rental properties all have an EPC rating of C or above, and where possible, we strive to achieve an A rating. As a result, our residents enjoy the benefits of reduced running costs.

Local agents you can trust

We instruct a local letting agent who knows the area inside out. All of our letting agents provide an excellent, face-to-face service.

FAQs

Am I eligible for an affordable rental property?

We let our homes by working with our Local Authority partners, Cornwall HomeChoice, who nominate residents for our affordable rental homes. Perran Housing abides by criteria which states who can access affordable rental properties in line with our aims and purpose. Local lettings policies may also introduce additional criteria. Perran Housing follows the guidance set out by Cornwall HomeChoice which includes the following: 

  • Requirement for a three-year connection to Cornwall through family, residency or employment 
  • Applicants with a household income less than £30,000 will be given priority for Cornwall Council owned homes 
  • Those with a household income (after tax) of £60,000 or more will not be eligible to apply through HomeChoice
  • Those with assets worth more than £50,000 will be excluded from HomeChoice 

What is Perran Housing?

Perran Housing LLP is a Registered Provider of social housing which manages Treveth’s
affordable rent and low-cost home ownership housing across its sites in Cornwall.

How do you prioritise applicants?

This is the order in which we prioritise applicants for our shared ownership homes: 

  1. Social housing tenants – if they purchase a property, they release a home for rent which is much-needed in Cornwall 
  2. Applicants registered on the local authority’s housing waiting list or who are living or working in the Community Network area as defined by Cornwall Council 
  3. Applicants registered on the local authority’s housing waiting list or who are in a local priority group 
  4. Emergency services and military personnel 
  5. Those already living or working in the same borough or district council as the property 
  6. All other applicants 

The prioritisation of shared ownership homes is subject to local planning guidelines and may change from scheme to scheme.
